Pokhara International Airport
The Nepal government finally announced the opening of Pokhara International Airport. The inauguration ceremony was held on the 1st of January 2023 by the recent Prime Minister of Nepal on an special function in Pokhara(Nepal Tourism Capital).
This is exciting news for all domestic and international travelers. The airport is guaranteed to serve thousands of travelers visiting western region of Nepal and a quicker alternative to many exciting trekking circuit in the region. There wont be any hassle of changing planes in Kathmandu to get into a domestic flight.
At the initial stage of its operation, the airport will only operate domestic flights, a date for international flight operations is soon to be announced.
The airport has been in the works for many years, and its construction has been met with much excitement and anticipation from local residents and businesses. The airport is located just a few kilometers outside of Pokhara, and it is easily accessible from the city center by car or public transportation.
This modern airport is expected to serve a range of domestic and international destinations, with a number of airlines already announcing plans to operate flights to and from Pokhara. This includes both budget carriers and full-service airlines, giving travelers a range of options to choose from when planning their trips.
Nepal’s first airport, Tribhuvan International Airport, is 71 years old. It was inaugurated in 1955 by Late King Mahendra in memory of his father, Late King Tribhuvan, hence the name “TIA.” As a main international airport, it has been connecting Nepal to over 40 destinations in 17 countries.
